Based in Warwickshire, most of the weddings I photograph are in and around the towns of Leamington, Warwick and Stratford. But every now and again, I get to travel to other areas of the country and this Italianate style village in Wales did not disappoint! Having the opportunity to photography a Portmeirion wedding has been on my bucket list for years so I could not have been more thrilled when Sara and Dylan booked me for their photography.
I began the morning at the Unicorn suite, where the bride, her family and bridesmaids were getting ready together. Sara wore an elegant off the shoulder dress and Dylan wore a dapper navy three piece. After an emotional first look with her Dad, Sara travelled down to the village centre on a golf buggy.
The couple chose to have a traditional civil ceremony which took place in the Hercules Hall. They had some beautiful readings, which everyone enjoyed and after the ceremony they were showered with confetti. It was a beautifully sunny day, which was unexpected for a March wedding, especially given the downpour the day before!
fun + relaxed photography
While the guests hit the bar, we wandered around the village doing some fun and relaxed portraits. Portmeirion has so many amazing and unique spots for photos that I was in my element. However, no bride and groom want to be kept away from their guests for too long on their wedding day so we headed back to the hotel where they were greeted by their guests. The wedding breakfast was followed by some wonderful speeches which got a lot of giggles! The party then got started back in the Hercules Hall and the couple had all the guests clapping and whooping as they hit the dance floor for their first dance.
Here’s their laid back Portmeirion wedding!
